Yesterday, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce hosted the conference "New Corporate Governance and Female Board Pool".

The conference, organised by the Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the National Institute for Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility and the Female Board Pool Luxembourg Initiative, allowed participants to exchange views on gender balance in corporate governance. Indeed, the percentage of women across all boards was found to have increased from less than 20% to 26%.

Among those present at the event was Luxembourg Equal Opportunities Minister Lydia Mutsch who recalled the many efforts made by the Ministry of Equal Opportunities to increase the presence of women on boards and steering committees. She went on to congratulate the companies and mentors present for their commitment: "I am convinced of the added value of leadership based on equality between men and women for the economy of our country. Making better use of the diversity of talents and skills of both men and women within a company is beneficial to the development, the work climate and the competitiveness of this company."

One of the conclusions of the conference was that the idea in terms of new corporate governance is therefore first and foremost to lead to "authentic" and balanced leadership, where women will have the opportunity to position themselves and pass on their values and managerial practices, in a spirit of partnership.
