Lions Club Erasmus has teamed up with Paul bakeries in Luxembourg to raise money for the Coins for Kids initiative.

Lions Club Erasmus, the Luxembourg based English-speaking multinational Lions club, has partnered with Boulangerie Paul to launch a new fundraising initiative starting on 1 May for a period of six weeks.

Since its launch in 2000, Lions Erasmus has used the Coins for Kids funding campaign to support organisations working in favour of children in need, be it in Luxembourg or other places in the world. However, changing payment behaviours mean that fewer and fewer coins have been collected in recent years in the donation boxes. Lions Erasmus have thus announced the support of the Paul bakery chain for Coins for Kids in a new approach to raising funds.

From 1 May until mid-June, Paul bakeries will offer its clients a special menu: a sandwich, drink and dessert for the sum of €8.90. For every menu sold, Paul will donate €1 to Coins for Kids.

To date, almost €140,000 has been collected via this campaign and donated to a variety of initiatives, such as the purchase of two enlargement systems (€10,000) for Luxembourg’s Institute for the Visually Impaired to enable visually impaired young people to complete their education in Luxembourg, the renovation of the play area of the Foyer Paula Bové women’s shelter in Luxembourg (€6,500), the construction of a house for street children in Bonnievale, South Africa (€4,000) and the purchase of two incubators for Dhulikhel Hospital, Nepal (€4,200).
