In order to intensify its impact on children suffering from cancer, the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner has launched the LËTZ GO GOLD charity run based on the minimum collection concept.

Upon registration online at www.letzgogold.lu, participants receive their own collection page which allows them to seek support to collect the required amount to participate in the race: €200 for adults and €100 for minors and students under 25 years of age.

On the morning of Saturday 29 September 2018, the race will be launched near the ponds of the Kockelscheuer ice rink and will mark the end of the collection for the participants. The whole morning will be a festive event. The run is not timed, but podiums will reward the best collectors.

The start of the run will be surrounded by a lively village open to the general public, offering fun activities, scientific workshops, food trucks and photo sessions. A choice of three courses are available: 5 or 10 km running or 5 km walking.

The LËTZ GO GOLD team will support participants by giving them tips on how to start collecting and how to increase the number of donations. Each donor receives a thank you certificate that can be used for tax declarations.

This first edition have the support of a number of partners, including Cactus, McDonald's, Elvinger Hoss Prussen, Foyer Insurance, Luxairport and KBL European Private Bankers, so that 100% of the donations collected will be dedicated to paediatric oncology research. The total of the collected funds will be handed over on that same day to the scientists of two national research projects in collaboration with the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Institute of Health.

Worldwide, the month of September is dedicated to raising awareness on childhood cancer. Cancer is the leading cause of death from illness in children over 1 year of age, with 6,000 child deaths each year in Europe. In Luxembourg, the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner supports some 200 families every year, 80% of whom are children with cancer and 20% are children are children with a rare and life threatening disease.

This LËTZ GO GOLD charity run is a great opportunity to support young patients against cancer. Solidarity knows no borders, because the same race is being organised that same weekend in Paris and Brussels.
