Rock Against Cancer 2018;
On 31 May 2018, the ladies took the lead at the Rockhal for the 6th edition of Rock Against Cancer, organised by a group of Swiss Life Global Solutions’ employees, which was once again a success, with €30,000 raised for charity.
More than 400 people attended this year’s event and danced to the sound of pop and soul hits played by the Belgian band Lady Cover. Just Combo warmed up the crowd with rock renditions of No Doubt, Texas and Joan Jett, while local DJs The Brunettes made sure the crowd was entertained in between the bands.
For the six years during which this fund-raising initiative has been running, all the benefits collected by Rock Against Cancer are entirely donated to two Luxemburgish charities - Fondation Cancer and Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner, helping children fighting cancer.
During the evening, a few famous faces joined the Wine Tasting session prior to the concert, among which were members of parliament Nancy Arendt and Simone Asselborn-Bintz, as well as the presidents of both foundations. On the occasion, people were able to taste wines and artisanal specialities presented by seven exhibitors to the sound of jazzy piano-voice music by Just Combo.
Since its creation in 2013, Rock Against Cancer already collected more that €100,000 and this year, €30,000 was added. The presentation of the cheque ceremony took place on 10 July with all the main sponsors in attendance.
Next year’s edition is already on track and is set for 3 May 2019.
