Over the recent holiday period, Caritas Luxembourg organised a Christmas dinner for around a hundred people living in precarious conditions.
The event was held at the Center Ulysse by the Cultural and Humanitarian Association of BAIRRADA in Luxembourg (ACHBL), represented by its president, Mr Rogério de Oliveira.
"This holiday has become for us an important appointment before Christmas. This is the 13th year in a row that we are organizing it. The Association was created in 1997 with the aim of promoting Portuguese culture in Luxembourg and helping where it is needed" stated Rogério de Oliveira.
The menu was in the colours of Portugal with Gomes de Sà cod, grilled chicken and suckling pig. "Since most of the guests are of Luxembourg origin, we wanted to put on the menu some typical dishes from Portugal but which are not too far away from the local tastes so that everyone can feast. Certainly, among the people present there were also people of Portuguese nationality" he added.
The celebration was enhanced by the presence of the Consul General of Portugal, Miss Cape Verde in Luxembourg, as well as Santa Claus who distributed well-filled backpacks to all those present.
Caritas Luxembourg recognised its many volunteers for their dedication to the disadvantaged.
