On Wednesday 24 April 2024, Luxembourg's Fondation Cancer confirmed that this year's Relais pour la Vie (Relay for Life) raised a record €891,253 for the charity's activities.

One month ago, on 23 and 24 March 2024, Relais pour la Vie brought together 13,595 people for a weekend of solidarity. The event saw the participation of 301 teams on-site at d'Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg and 225 "connected" teams, demonstrating their commitment to cancer patients and their loved ones in Luxembourg and beyond.

This edition raised a total of €891,253, which will go towards supporting the actions of Fondation Cancer.

"Relais pour la Vie embodies solidarity with patients not only through the presence and support of participants, but also through their commitment to raising funds to support our actions," said Margot Heirendt, Director of Fondation Cancer.

On Tuesday 23 April 2024, the organisers awarded the "Trophées de l'Espoir" (trophies of hope) to the six teams which raised the most funds in six different categories. The prizes were presented by the event partners during a ceremony at the Tramsschapp cultural centre in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.

The six winning teams were:

  • Carpe Diem (Associations & Clubs category): €5,000
  • Lycée Guillaume Kroll (Schools category): €23,149
  • European Investment Fund (Companies & Institutions category): €16,758
  • Team Italia (Country category): €9,000
  • Team Empatia (Supporters category): €12,009
  • Hôpitaux Robert Schuman (Health Professions category): €12,189

"We are deeply touched by the outpouring of generosity and commitment from each team. This Relais pour la Vie has once again demonstrated that compassion and unity are incredibly powerful forces," concluded Margot Heirendt.
