Between 1 April and 1 October 2023, employees of BorgWarner in Luxembourg, a global company active in the field of clean and efficient technological solutions for combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles, embarked on an internal sporting challenge called “BorgWarner Moves” for a good cause.

Using a mobile application, different teams counted the kilometres they covered between April and October while walking or running. The action carried out in Luxembourg made it possible to collect an amount of €1,854, paid to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde to contribute to the good development of children who have lost or risk losing parental care.

The team presented a cheque to Anne Schweizer during a visit to the company's offices in Hautcharage. This was an opportunity to discuss the association's development and emergency aid projects and in particular the beneficiary project, the construction of a college in Morocco. Site manager Frederic Baron said: “What a joy to be able to transform a sporting challenge into a gesture of solidarity in favour of children in need.

The donation will contribute to the construction and equipment of a college (ultimately for 500 students) and a boarding school (for 50 young girls) in Aït Ourir, near Marrakech in Morocco. The objective is for the children and young people of the town to return to school and benefit from a quality education. Girls especially, too often still in rural regions, are forced to abandon school to provide for the needs of their families. In Aït Ourir, the new infrastructures will thus promote their retention in school but will also allow the most vulnerable among them to have a safe and protected place to live, BorgWarner noted.
