The Luxembourg Philharmonic Academy has launched a call for applications from local musical talent for a new piece for a string quartet.

Talented composers in Luxembourg are invited to enrich the repertoire of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Academy with a ten-minute-long piece for a string quartet, to be played at a future concert. This marks the first commission dedicated to the academy since its creation two years ago. According to Philharmonie Luxembourg, this confirms the desire to promote contemporary creation and to support composers in the Grand Duchy.

The call for applications, endowed with an award of €4,000, targets Luxembourgish composers and is supported by the Œuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte. Interested individuals should submit an application with their idea, CV and audio extracts of any previous compositions before 15 January 2024 via email: contact@lpoa.lu. Further questions can be directed to Patrick Coljon, Head of Orchestra, at the aforementioned email address.

Launched in 2021, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Academy continues to nurture the next generation of musical talents. Coming from all over the world, exceptional young musicians meet in Luxembourg for two years of intensive training.
