On Thursday 25 February 2016, SOS Kannerduerf Mersch was presented with two cheques worth a total €10,000 combined by BGL BNP Paribas, at the bank's head office.
The Business Banking and Corporate Investment Banking (Treasury) departments of BGL BNP Paribas decided to replace end-of-year gifts with a shared donation to SOS Kannerduerf Mersch, which takes in orphans, abandoned children and those who are unable to live with their parents due to serious family reasons.
An SOS mother or rather then cares for each child, raising them until they are old enough to become independent. The aim is to provide a stable and educational environment for each child, to help their development as either part of an SOS family or in an SOS home.
BGL BNP Paribas, one of the largest banks in the Grand Duchy, stated that the initiative formed part of its commitment to actively participate in community actions.
