A group of British nationals living in Luxembourg concerned at Brexit and its implications have formed a non-profit-making organisation which will have its Annual General Meeting (AGM) next month.
British Immigrants Living in Luxembourg (BRILL) asbl started life as a Facebook group last July - following the referendum in Britain on 23 June last year - the members of which then decided to create a formal and legal structure. They also operate a Newsletter distributed by email.
The AGM is to be held on Wednesday 8 November 2017 at the European Convention Centre Luxembourg on Place de l'Europe in Kirchberg, followed at 19:00 by a public meeting with Luxembourg MEP Charles Goerens, Luxembourg government Minister Corinne Cahen and the British Ambassador to Luxembourg, John Marshall. The evening will be concluded by a cocktail.
BRILL also has a website - see www.brill-luxembourg.org - in which they describe "We aim to be your one-stop shop for news about your citizens’ rights post-Brexit, updates on the negotiations and life in Luxembourg."
The Facebook group has been run on an informal basis, mainly by Fiona Godfrey who has been "shuttling back and forth between Luxembourg, London and Brussels fighting for the rights of UK citizens in the EU and EU citizens in the UK".
BRILL membership is open to UK nationals living, studying and/or working in Luxembourg, and to Luxembourgish nationals living, studying and/or working in the UK - see www.brill-luxembourg.org for details. All members will then be entitled to vote at the upcoming AGM.
