The Irish Club of Luxembourg (ICL) is organising a Sponsored Walk this coming Sunday 6 May 2018 in Luxembourg city and Kirchberg.

The walk will take around two hours and the route is suitable for families with children and buggies.

Meeting place: in the Parc Pescatore at 11:00 (close to the Pfaffenthal lift). After the walk, those wishing to stay and join in for lunch are very welcome to do so.

The route will involve taking the lift down to Pfaffenthal and walking around the picturesque, historical and artisanal neighbourhood which still has remnants of its Roman past - the Roman road from Reims to Trier crosses the Alzette river. Then the route involves taking the funicular up to Kirchberg and around the cultural district of the Grand Duchesse Joséphine Charlotte's concert hall (the Philharmonie) and the Grand Duc Jean Museum of Modern Art (MUDAM) and the Three Acorns museum on the site of the former Fort Thungen. The route then involves taking the tram the d'Coque sports centre and walking through the Kirchberg Park, before getting back on the tram.
Participants then have a choice of joining the ICL for lunch at the JFK restaurant, or continuing to the last tram stop at the Red Bridge where you can walk to the Glacis.

Sponsorship

All those participating are encouraged to raise funds / contribute towards this year's chosen charity, the Blue Teapot Company (see www.blueteapot.ie) in Galway which puts on dramatic productions by people with intellectual disabilities.
