The Russian community of Luxembourg has announced that it is organising the first Russian-Luxembourg cultural festival at the Châteaux de Beaufort (Rue du Château, L-6313 Beaufort) which will take place on Sunday, 17 June 2018 from 10:00 to 19:00.

The first Russian-Luxemburg Festival is being organised on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of bilateral cultural relations between these two countries. The date has been chosen deliberately between those of the national holidays of Russia and Luxembourg and is being held under the patronage of the Embassy of the Russian Federation with the support of the association "Les Amis des Châteaux de Beaufort", the Beaufort municipality and the Russian Centre for Science and Culture and with the help of the GPB International SA bank and "Wietor-Viandes" master butcher.

The aim of the festival is to present the culture of the Russian community in Luxembourg and the Greater Region and to encourage interaction and exchange between people. Moreover, it corresponds to the spirit of the agreement between the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the fields of culture, education and science from 1993 which places special emphasis on "special importance to direct contacts between people and the free movement of people, ideas and cultural property".

The Russian community in Luxembourg offers a varied programme of activities that will take place within the walls of Beaufort Chateau, classified as a national monument. The castle environment will be divided into three thematic areas. The gastronomic area offers the opportunity to discover Russian cuisine and the good alliance between traditional Russian dishes and traditional drinks of Luxembourg. In collaboration with the Châteaux de Beaufort administration, the www.luxweekend.ru website has developed a guided visit in Russian through the Renaissance part of the chateau that will be offered throughout the day as well as after the festival. This would allow more and more Russian-speaking residents and tourists to become more familiar with the history of this extraordinary monument.
