Remerschen youth hostel;

On Saturday 3 November, Toastmasters Leadership Institute will hold a multi-cultural speech contest at the Youth Hostel in Remerschen - Schengen (31 route du vin, L-5440 Remerschen).

The Robert Schuman Speech Contest is open to all, including those who have not yet completed the 6 speeches (or their equivalent in Pathways) as usually required to participate in a contest. Each contestant delivers a 3-minute speech, with no theme or objective assigned; they can choose to speak in French, English, German or even Luxembourgish. The contest is just for fun - there are no prizes to win...

Since July 2018, there are no more Winter contests organised by the Toastmasters Leadership Institute which is free to organise what they want, and how they want it. Participating clubs will be coming from three neighbouring countries - France/Luxemburg (district 59) and Germany (district 95) – who rarely get together and that will meet on the occasion of a cross-border and multilingual event.

This will be a unique day spent together in a city epitomising Europe’s unity: Schengen - Toastmasters know no borders!

Since the usual rules do not apply, all members of the audience will be able to vote, using their smartphones.

The day in a nutshell:
- An all-in package (breakfast, lunch, snacks)
- Speeches grouped by language (French, English, German, Luxembourgish, in an order reflecting the number of contestants)
- Multilingual Masters-of-Ceremony
- Snappy workshops inbetween each speech session
- Optionally, one can participate to a Luxembourgish wine-tasting at the end of the day when contests are over (not included in the package).
- Also optionally, it is possible to stay over at the Youth Hostel, if you do not want to drive back the same day (not included in the package).

Cost: €35 (in advance; includes breakfast, lunch and snacks) or €40 at the door. To participate, see https://www.weezevent.com/the-robert-schuman-open-short-speech-contest
