BLC's Professional and Entrepreneurial Women event, Series 2, event 1;

The second season of the British Ladies Club’s Professional and Entrepreneurial Women started with a bang on Thursday 25 October at the Alvisse Parc Hotel in Luxembourg-Dommeldange.

More than 40 women attended the BLC's event to listen to a distinguished panel of strong women. The guests, Isabel Wiseler and Vinciane Istace, offered incredibly sound, reliable and, at times, entertaining advice regarding attitudes to change, life, diversity and the future.

The audience was entranced by the contrast between the two women – Ms Wiseler being a woman of varied contributions to social policy, gender balance, youth and elderly issues, while Ms Istace has been at PwC for more than 20 years in various roles all the while pushing forward on diversity and inclusion.

Their paths in life were travelled differently (planned meticulously vs. taking opportunities as they arise, for example) which makes it appear as if these two inspiring women were completely different in every respect. However, the longer the talk went on, the clearer it became that there were certain traits deeply ingrained in their personalities which has made them the role models they are today.

There were countless takeaways of the evening, but three things were made clear by both. Firstly, diversity is crucial to the positive evolution of both society and companies, but it also demands constant and conscious work to embrace. Secondly, no matter what happens in life (whether by your own choice or another’s decision), the quicker you can be at peace with change and embrace it, the better. There is no point in feeling guilt, fear or regret over such things. And lastly, if you stay true to yourself and are doing something that is truly ‘you’ then you will discover boundless energy and the confidence to remind yourself of your goals.

Sofia Kaiser, events representative for the BLC, stated “From entrepreneurs to those with multinational company careers, you could feel an electric sense of excitement for the future in the room.”

For more lessons and takeaways, the next BLC Professional and Entrepreneurial Women event takes place in December.
