Luxembourg Toastmasters Leadership Institute;

At the end of January, Toastmasters International (Luxembourg and North-East of France areas) organisied a Luxembourg Toastmasters Leadership Institute on Saturday 27 January 2018 at the Youth Hostel in Luxembourg city.

The Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) is an exceptional public event aimed at showcasing Toastmasters and providing interactive communication, public speaking and leadership training. The 27 January Luxembourg TLI targeted an audience of around 100 attendees, with roughly half of the attendance coming from within the organisation and the other half being guests.

Toastmasters International (TI) is a USA headquartered non-profit educational organisation that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. Through its thousands of member clubs, Toastmasters International offers a program of communication and leadership projects designed to help people learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinking. Throughout its history, Toastmasters has served over four million people, and today the organisation serves over 352,000 members in 141 countries, through its 16,400 member clubs. There are eight English Speaking clubs and four French-speaking clubs in Luxembourg and the North-East of France.

The event included a 90-minute demonstration Toastmasters meeting, including prepared speeches, improvisations and evaluations in the morning; after lunch, a series of parallel interactive workshops covering themes including how to conduct and win a debate, evaluating to motivate people, exploiting the power of one’s voice, tips and tricks from the world of modelling to feeling comfortable on stage and how to start and conclude an effective speech. At the end of the event, awards were given to the winners of the debate.
