No less than 10 international associations have discovered the Grand Duchy and its assets in conjunction with the organisation of seminars and congresses; from 10 to 15 September 2017, a familiarisation trip was organised by Luxembourg for Tourism and the MICE Luxembourg Cluster.

The aim of this study tour was to show the participants the real strengths of the Grand Duchy in organising MICE events (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) and to register the country in a network of European operators.

Through a programme of exchanges, visits and meetings with key players in the Luxembourg MICE sector, the leaders of the associations were able to realise, for the most part for the first time, the quality and variety of services and infrastructures available in the Grand Duchy: meeting and congress centres, exhibition rooms, business hotels, restaurants, etc.

Thanks to its small size, Luxembourg is a destination all the more unique: during a short stay, one can discover both a cosmopolitan European capital and five authentic regions. The programme included visits to the city of Luxembourg, its historical heritage and cultural institutions, as well as the regions of the Ardennes and the Moselle.

"Luxembourg is an ideal destination for holding a congress because of its central location in Europe. I am impressed by the historical heritage and how the city has developed by integrating modern infrastructures, especially those of the Kirchberg. I would definitely choose Luxembourg for the organisation of an event," said Prof. Dr. Karl Martin Born, President of the "Permanent European Conference for the Study of Rural Landscapes" (Germany).

The promotion of Luxembourg as a MICE destination in foreign markets is among the measures defined by the Ministry of Economy to diversify the economy of the Grand Duchy. It is one of the missions of "Luxembourg for Tourism" and its "MICE Cluster". International associations constitute a clientele all the more important because they are the ones who organise most of the events abroad.
