Meeting of the Strategic Monitoring Committee "Third Industrial Revolution" for the post-Rifkin public conference of 9 October 2017

The Third Meeting of the Committee for the follow-up of the Strategic Review of the Third Industrial Revolution took place on 19 October 2017 at the Ministry of Economy under the chairmanship of the Minister of Housing and Minister for Higher Education and in Research, Marc Hansen, and in the presence of members of the government, François Bausch and Lydia Mutsch; representatives of the other ministries involved, employers' organisations, trade unions, professional chambers and civil society were also present.

Reporting to the government's cabinet, the Strategic Monitoring Committee oversees and centralises the work of the various thematic platforms which are responsible for analysing, discussing and, if necessary, deepening the various measures and proposals emerging from the Rifkin study presented officially in November 2016. The collective process initiated since then and the implementation of an associated governance have made it possible to bring together 350 socio-economic actors across 8 platforms. The interim review of the work was presented by the relevant ministries at the strategic monitoring committee and the various platforms made the progress report, highlighting the measures and projects under way while presenting the next steps considered. The creation of a new thematic platform dedicated to the health sector was presented by the Minister of Health, Lydia Mutsch, to integrate this component in the future reflections.

The progress of the work and the future challenges of the strategy of the third industrial revolution will be presented to the general public at a conference open to all to be held on 9 November 2017 starting at 09:00 at the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg. The event is organised by the Ministry of Economy in collaboration with myEnergy.

During this conference, Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister, Étienne Schneider, will take stock of the work related to the Rifkin study and present the measures and projects that are part of the process of Luxembourg towards a more sustainable economic and societal model. At the same time, an inter-generational exchange organised in collaboration with the "Jonk Entrepreneuren Lëtzebuerg" will take place. A political discussion panel on the theme "Qualitative Wuesstem" will be attended by Ministers Étienne Schneider, Carole Dieschbourg, François Bausch, Pierre Gramegna and Nicolas Schmit, as well as representatives of the professional chambers.
