Luxembourg’s first Cybersecurity Week came to an end on Friday 20 October 2017 with a gala dinner that rewarded the most active players in the field, including the CISO of the year Dolores Perez.
In total, the week of 16 to 21 October gathered more than 2,000 people around the various issues related to cybersecurity. Throughout the week, public and private actors demonstrated their determination to collaborate to improve the level of digital security of companies, organisations and citizens. With the launch of the C3 (Cybersecurity Competence Centre), this determination came alive with new and promising tools.
Moreover, the PwC Cybersecurity Day gathered more than 200 professionals, experts, public and private actors, start-ups and investors around the international challenges in terms of computer security as well as the tools and solutions of tomorrow thanks to the 10 companies from Europe, the US and Israel, selected for their innovative solution.
The analysis of threats and vulnerabilities as well as the means to combat them have aroused the interest of many professionals looking for new ways to enhance their security. This spotlight on cybersecurity comes at a time when Europe is lacking IT profiles to ensure the cyber defence of tomorrow. The "Cyber Talent Day" event intended to tackle this shortage.
The week ended with the awards ceremony which recognised the achievements of Dolores Perez from KBL European Private Bankers, winner of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) award. Four other prizes were awarded in the different categories: the Best Thesis Award (sponsored by CLUSIL) went to Edourdo Leon from Clearstream; the Capture the Flag (CTF) Award (sponsored by hack.lu) went to Flux Fingers team (Ruhr University Bochum), the Most Promising Company Award (sponsored by PwC) was won by Cyber Trap; the People's Choice Award (sponsored by PwC) was given to Stratus Digital System.
