A conference on election polls will be held on Tuesday 10 July 2018 at Cercle-Cité, Auditorium Henri Beck (2 rue Genistre, L-1623 Luxembourg), from 11:45

As the parliamentary elections of 14 October 2018 approach, polls are quickly occupying the forefront of the political scene. As such, The Luxembourg Society of Statistics (SLS), in collaboration with LISER and STATEC, is organising a conference entitled "Electoral polls" ("Les sondages électoraux") to better inform the public on what these polls really are.

The conference aims to comprehensively examine the statistical bases of the polls, the good practices and the way to establish the results. A round table will discuss the usefulness and effects of polls.

Provisional programme:

11:45 Welcome and lunch

12:15 Conference. "Electoral statistics ad polls" by Agnieszka Walzcak and Christophe Ley (SLS); "TNS-Ilres and electoral polls" by Tommy Klein (TNS-Ilres)

13:05 Round-table on the "Usefulness and effects of electoral polls" with speakers Jean-Lou Siweck (Managing director of Editpress), Fernand Fehlen (University of Luxembourg), Romain Kohn (Director of ALIA) and Raphaël Kies (University of Luxembourg - tbc).

13:50 End of round table discussion: Nico Weydert (President of SLS)
