The World Congress of the UIMC (International Union of Railway Medical Services) and its General Assembly were held in Luxembourg from 26 to 28 September 2018, with events organised by the CFL, Luxembourg's railways.

The UIMC was formed as an autonomous group at the UIC (International Union of Railways) in 1995. The members of the UIMC are organisations and railway companies that have a medical service. The annual conference brings together occupational health doctors from the railways and occupational health services from around the world. Not only the railways, but also the health of the transport sector, including specialised areas, benefit from scientific results and statistical data prepared by the UIMC delegates.

The UIMC 2018 congress was opened by Marc Wengler, General Manager of the CFL Group, and Dr. Renate Kuhn, doctor of the CFL Group and organiser of the UIMC World Congress. The congress brought together more than 60 participants from 22 countries who spent three days exchanging to contribute to the health and well-being and working conditions of railways around the world. In addition, a guided tour of the CFL intermodal terminal in Bettembourg (Luxembourg) took place. During the conference, several sessions were held on various topics, such as programmes to improve health and well-being, the challenge of changing the digital age, and the millennium generation among railwaymen.

The next UIMC congress and general assembly will be held in Naples in Italy in October 2019.
