PwC Luxembourg has announced details of its 2019 edition of its Economy Day, highlights of the Luxembourg business calendar, which will take place on Thursday 28 February from 09:00 to 17:00 at Luxembourg's Chamber of Commerce (7 rue Alcide de Gasperi) in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

Trade is in a state of global uncertainty: the framework for open, rules-based trade faces multiple threats. To name just a few, trade agreements between China and the EU, as well as Brexit and the rise of protectionism lead to one question: are we on the brink of a trade war?

This year, the annual conference brings together leading names from the worlds of business, academia and politics to discuss and debate critical issues affecting global trade and international economic relations.

In the morning, hear from an exceptional line-up of speakers, including insights from:

• Dani Rodrik, Economist; Ford Foundation Professor of International Political Economy, Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government; President-Elect, International Economic Association and author of the book Straight Talk on Trade: Ideas for a Sane World Economy (2017).

• André Sapir, Senior Fellow, Bruegel; University Professor, Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB); Research Fellow, London-based Centre for Economic Policy Research.
In the afternoon, a panel discussion will focus on the potential impacts for Luxembourg.

Finally, a working session (in French), held in collaboration with Fondation IDEA, will address the following question: "Peut-on protéger sans protectionnisme?" (Can we protect without protectionism?).
