Rotary Clubs in Luxembourg, from their 3rd anuual Espoir en tête initiative, presented a cheque worth €25,927 to the Luxembourg University's Luxembourg Center for Systems Biomedicine on Friday at Utopolis in Kirchberg.
The Rotary Clubs Luxembourg action involved the organisation of preview screenings at Utopolis cinemas to collect donations for brain research in Luxembourg. This year, more than 3,000 spectators were present, a record, on Sunday 15 March 2015, for the screening of Disney's Cinderella. From each €15 ticket sold, €8 went directly towards brain research in Luxembourg. In 2013, the film screened was The fantastic world of Oz, which attracted 750 people; in 2014, the film Saving Mr. Banks attracted more than doubled the previous year's numbers.
On 15 March, no less than 13 screening rooms at Utopolis Kirchberg and Utopolis Belval were full as more than 3,000 people attended the premiere of the film.
The donation will support the activities of experimental laboratories at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB); the LCSB will buy new equipment (Mx3005P QPCR System 230V) which will be used to measure the activity of genes in biological samples. This instrument will be used mainly in research on Parkinson's disease.
Those who would like to contribute to the Rotary Clubs Luxembourg and the work of the LCSB may make a transfer to IBAN LU94 0081 7737 4700 1003 (BLUXLULL), mentioning ESPOIR EN TÊTE.
You can support Hope in tête® and donate to the Luxembourg Association of Rotary Works by indicating the mention HOPE FIRST, on the account IBAN LU94 0081 7737 4700 1003 (BLUXLULL). More information is available at www.espoir-en-tete.lu
