The Cents Corporate Challenge, also known as the Triple C, a fundraising event hosted by volunteers at the International Section of the Red Cross in Luxembourg, is to take place on Sunday 5 June 2016 from 09:00 - 14:00 at the Institut National des Sports (INS) in Cents.
The event aims to engage corporations to work closely together and promote corporate social responsibility while raising money for vulnerable people in the local community. It is organised as a fun day when family, friends and work colleagues compete in different sport activities to raise money for a very good cause.
Triple C was founded in 2014 to mark the 100 year anniversary of the Red Cross Luxembourg (Centenary Corporate Challenge). The aim is to raise funds for the Red Cross by offering a team-building corporate challenge, based on previous experience of Afterwork Swimming event (which was created in 2010). The activities are to engage corporations to work closely together and promoting corporate social responsibility while raising money for vulnerable people in the local community (Luxembourg). The 2014 action raised €10,366 for the funds for the Social Groceries initiative (www.buttek.lu), which supports vulnerable people in Luxembourg. This service offers people & families on income support to buy their household necessities (food and household products) at up to 75% discount from the retail price. Six of these shops already exist in the country. The 2015 event raised €15,523, also donated in support of the Social Groceries initiative. The 2016 goal is to increase the number of companies participating and raise more funds. In 2014 & 2015 event hosted 8 teams each; the target for 2016 will allow 16 teams, of which 2 will represent Nordea Bank.
The event is 4 hours of friendly, but competitive challenges and team-building activities. Competitions vary from track-and-field, sprints, relay, egg toss, sack race to tug-of-war and 3 legged races. Triple C is a fun day event mainly for adults. Aside from the competition there's plenty for their children to do, with arts & crafts, face-painting, an obstacle course and other fun activities. There are also food and drinks provided by other sponsors. The day ends with lunch and the all-important prize-giving for the lucky winners.
