Today marked the presentation of the digital strategy for Luxembourg's cultural heritage.

In his role as Minister of Culture, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel presented on 26 June 2018 the digital strategy for national cultural heritage. The strategy has been developed in close collaboration with the institutes and services in charge of the preservation, dissemination and enhancement of heritage, including libraries, archives and museums.

The first aim was to carry out an in-depth study of the existing situation, to develop a network of competences between cultural institutes and to support and assist them in the development and implementation of their digital strategy for national cultural heritage. .

Xavier Bettel pointed out that by creating the position of coordinator of the digital strategy, he was keen to prepare the future of our cultural heritage: "At present, cultural institutes are already doing valuable work in the field of digitisation, but the pressure of the digital revolution is enormous and it is making great strides. We also see it in other sectors. The expectations of the different fields are considerable, whether in research, education or simply the general public, all interested in accessing the cultural heritage digitally."

Moreover, a network of skills, bringing together digital specialists from the different cultural institutes, has been developed to establish synergies between actors, notably through the exchange of information, the definition of common frameworks, the transfer of knowledge and the development of joint projects.

During the presentation, the different cultural institutes also illustrated the implementation of the digital strategy by discussing examples from their respective fields. All these actions are part of the process of setting up a reference framework for the digital development of cultural heritage.
