On 10 October 2017, an official delegation chaired by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felix and Princess Claire and Luxembourg Secretary of State for Culture Guy Arendt will travel to Frankfurt on the occasion of the official opening of the book fair.

On the occasion of the opening of the book fair, the official French, Luxembourg, Swiss and Belgian delegations will first be welcomed at the Römer City Hall by the Mayor of Frankfurt, Peter Feldmann, for a signing session of the guestbook.

In the evening, the Luxembourg official delegation will visit the Messe Congress Centre to attend the official opening ceremony of the book fair and the inauguration of the honorary flag of France in the presence of the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The day will end with an opening concert of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra in the Alte Oper Opera House under the patronage of President Macron.

France, the guest of honor of this year's edition, has chosen the slogan "Frankfurt in French" to highlight the diversity and presence of the French language throughout the world and, like the French-speaking Switzerland and Belgium Francophone, Luxembourg is associated with the honorary flag of France as an official partner and it will have a visibility in the media of the communication and the events.

Throughout the fair from 11 to 15 October 2017, the Mersch National Literature Center will present its dictionary of Luxembourg authors online in the digital workshop of the pavilion of honor.

Similarly, the services and missions of the Bibliothèque nationale du Luxembourg will be exhibited at the French pavilion alongside the Bibliothèque nationale de France. The Ministry of Culture and the Centre nationale de littérature in Mersch will make some 250 Luxembourg works for the scenography of the Bibliothèque Éphémère available to the pavilion of France which will delimit the different spaces within the pavilion.
