The College of Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Luxembourg yesterday inaugurated the new BMX track at Neudorf, located near the Henri Funck stadium.
The idea for the new BMX track originally arose during a youth forum organise by the Youth Service in Gasperich in 2012. In collaboration with the youth of the Gasperich district, the Youth and Park Services developed the plans for the 'dirt-track' with the support of the 'Flying Miners asbl' association, which aims to support and represent national projects in BMX racing.
The track was created by the Park Service, with the assistance of experienced BMX rider, Kim Spirinelli. Young initiators of the project thmselves contributed to the development of the track, applying final touches to suit their specific needs.
The BMX track is spread over an area of 30m x 20m and is intended for both beginners and sports professionals of all ages.
