Del Kelly;

The Lucky 14 Irish pub on Rue du Fort Bourbon in Luxembourg-ville - just off the Place de Paris - was opened in January this year; it is now under Irish manageement after the two owners decided it needed an authentic Irish peersonality.

Del Kelly, from the Irish midlands but who has been in Luxembourg for 7 years, plied his trade at Oscar Wilde's, Urban and Steiler, before being hand-picked to run Lucky 14.

As soon as one enters the pub from the street, the decor and ambience showcases typical Irish hospitality, with copper and brass decorations and fittings around the bar. Framed photographs from around Ireland adorn the walls, around one of Grand Duke Henri. The ceiling is almost covered in sports jerseys - some Gaelic gams, some rugby, but mostly football - featuring Spanish, English, South American and even Luxembourgish teams.

And as for seating, the pub offers both booth with banquettes, as well as individual tables and chairs, ideal for different combinations, including watching sport on the large screen - Del explained that, so far, English and Scottish football, as well as Gaelic sports and rugby, have all been popular with the clientele. Of course, this is when music is not piped through, with classic rock )from the 70s, 80s and 90s, as well as Irish rock, on the playlists.

He also confirmed that, in a few weeks' time, he will be opening the kitchen, featuring traditional Irish cuisine. The menu is in its last draft stage and will offer traditional Irish pub food, including a Plat du Jour. Once that is up-and-running, he will start to plan to being in live music sessions and karaoke nights.

Lucky 14 is open 7 days/week, from 11:00 to 01:00.
