Actors Repertory Theatre Luxembourg (Actors Rep), the professional English-language theatre company, has announced details of the first production of its 2018 Season: The Guys, by Anne Nelson

The Guys will be presented on 30 & 31 May and 1 – 2 June and 4 – 6 June 2018 at Bamhaus (18 A / 18D rue de la Cimenterie, L-1337 Luxembourg-Dommeldange).

This will be Actors Rep’s first production at Bamhaus, the co-working space and community of artists and creative industries on the old ArcelorMittal site in the Dommeldange quartier of Luxembourg Ville. Actors Rep recently began a residency at Bamhaus. All performances will be in the Bamhaus Cinéma space.

The Guys is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger, Ltd., and with the support and patronage of the United States Embassy in Luxembourg, the support of the Ministère de la Culture, and the continuing support of e2advance IT Technologies.

In The Guys, a New York City writer and journalist, Joan, helps a firehouse Captain write memorials for the men his company lost in the World Trade Center attacks on 11 September 2001. It is based on a true story and originally opened at The Flea Theater in the Tribeca neighbourhood (a few blocks from the towers) a couple of months after the attacks.

Actors Rep Associate Artistic Director, Christine Probst, and Actors Rep Artistic Associate, Peter Zazzali, portray Joan and the Captain, Nick.

Peter Zazzali, a professional actor, director, theatre professor, and Artistic Director of Kansas Repertory Theatre, has worked throughout the US and in the UK and Australia. He has come to Luxembourg twice previously to work with Actors Rep—to direct The Fever in 2016 and to direct the world premier of Dear Santa... in 2017.

Christine Probst is a founding member of Actors Rep. In 2017 she directed Big Boys and #WTF Happened? On the Phenomenon of Trump—both to critical and audience acclaim. As an actress, she was in Dear Santa..., and previously performed in the Actors Rep productions of Greyhounds and Flowers in the Desert (both in 2015), and Do You Want to Know a Secret? (2016). She was in Anne Simon's production of an evening of rare early Tennessee Williams’ plays, Mister Paradise and Other Rare Electrical Things Between People in 2016 at Théâtre National du Luxembourg (TNL). She teaches Acting and Voice classes for the Actors Rep Actors Lab programme and founded the New World Theatre Club youth theatre programme.

Actors Rep Artistic Director Erik Abbott directs.

Zazzali, Probst and Abbott were all living in Manhattan on the day of the attacks. The production of this moving and beautiful play, which the New York Post described as a ‘sad and touching’ piece ‘about the braveries of grief’ will be informed by the experiences and memories of the three principle artists, each a direct witness to the attacks and their impact on the city.

Performances dates and times: 30, 31 May; 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 June at 20:00 and 2 June at 15:00.
