An analysis of the labour market situation, conducted last Friday by the Economic Committee, has found that the number of applications for partial unemployment submitted by companies remained stable from July to August 2015, resting at eleven requests.
The Economic Committee, co-chaired by the Secretary of State for the Economy, Francine Closener, and the Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Nicolas Schmit, found that after increasing by two in July, the grant requests for partial unemployment have remained fixed at eleven for the subsequent month of August.
At the meeting, the Economic Committee ruled favourably on 11 applications the final decision of whether or not to grant temporary support to companies facing a difficult economic situation. Within the context of the companies concerned, it is expected that a total 1,285 people and 586 paid employees will work reduced hours.
The expenditure under the Fund for Employment for the month of October 2015 will be €594,000 should all the companies take full advantage of the working schemes granted.
The Committee also issued a favourable opinion regarding the legal provisions for an early retirement adjustment.
The next meeting of the Economic Committee has been set for 28 October 2015.
