The European Parliament will today be debating the proposed 2016 budget of the European Union in Strasbourg.
Today's negotiations will follow the compromise reached on 14 November 2015 in Brussels between the European Council and European Parliament, when commitments were set at €155.00 billion and payments were agreed at €143.89 billion.
The vote will then take place on Wednesday 25 November 2015 in the presence of Pierre Gramegna, Luxembourg Minister of Finance and President of the ECOFIN Council. In Strasbourg, Minister Gramegna will also attend a political trialogue on the draft regulation on 'Benchmarks' in an attempt to reach a compromise between the Council, Parliament and Commission.
