On Wednesday 25 November 2015, the Economic Committee held a meeting to analyse the labour market situation of Luxembourg for October 2015, as well as the national economic situation.
Chaired by the Secretary of State for the Economy, Francine Closener, the meeting revealed that the number of applications had decreased by one unit compared with the previous month and by 9 compared with the same period for last year. In total, 13 companies submitted a grant request for partial unemployment in order to benefit from the measure in the coming month.
The Economic Committee ruled favourably on 12 applications with regards to the final decision to grant this temporary support to companies facing a difficult economic situation. It is expected that a total of 1,318 people, 570 paid employees will work reduced hours following the decisions taken.
Should all companies take full advantage of the partial unemployment schemes granted, expenditure under the Fund for Employment will amount to €760,000 for the month of December 2015.
The Economic Committee issued a positive opinion in relation to a tax exemption request for voluntary severance indemnities pursuant to section 115 (10) ITA regarding the eligibility of 5 people in the company concerned.
The next meeting of the Economic Committee is set for 18 December 2015.
