A social and solidarity economy cluster was created for the Greater Region at the end of last month.

On the occasion of the exchange day "Zukunft vun der Sozial- a Solidarwirtschaft zu Lëtzebuerg", held in Echternach on Tuesday 26 June 2018, Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Nicolas Schmit, and Mathieu Klein, president of the Meurthe-et-Moselle Departmental Council, officially launched the "Social and solidarity economy of the Greater Region" cluster.

The cluster is a pioneering cross-border initiative in Europe with the mission of promoting the social and solidarity economy, a meaningful economy. The initiative will aim to catalyse joint projects, beyond national borders, for a responsible and sustainable economy, centered on the human being, provider of jobs, innovation and development. In this way, the cluster will promote exchanges between all actors of the economy: private companies, companies of the social and solidarity economy and public authorities.

The cluster will be led by Ecotransfaire, a cross-border player in the social and circular economy, based in Belvaux (Luxembourg).
