The British Embassy in Luxembourg has announced that its central office in London has proposed a "bell ringing" initiative to mark the centenary of the Armistice, this Sunday 11 November 2018.

As is customary at 11:00 GMT there will be the traditional Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. The tone for the rest of the day will be one of thanksgiving for peace.

The British government, with the support of the German Government, is working to deliver a programme of national and international bell ringing at set times on the same day. The ringing of church and other bells worldwide will be a symbolic way of giving thanks for the end of the war and remembering the importance of peace.

In Luxembourg, the Eglise Protestante (5 rue de la Congrégation in Luxembourg-ville) will ring its bells for 15 minutes in a symbolic gesture giving thanks for the end of the war and remembering the importance of peace.

This initiative is jointly supported by the German Embassy here.
