The Institut Luxembourgeois de Régulation (ILR) has revealed in its bi-annual report that three out of the seven suppliers providing households with electricity are 100% renewable.

The ILR has noted that three electricity providers out of the seven supplying residential customers are 100% renewable, whilst others continue to supply mostly renewable electricity. The 100% renewable suppliers are: Eida, Electris and Sudstroum. The other suppliers offering mainly renewable energy are LEO (88%), Nordenergie (75%), Steinergy (59%) and Enovos (58%).

The ILR has also highlighted that the green electricity used in 2016 in Luxembourg came mainly from Norway (55%), Luxembourg (18%) and Finland (9%).

The report also indicated that more than 40% of the electricity supplied to Luxembourg in 2015 and 2016- combining all sources of energy- came from hydroelectric power, while the share of national electricity produced from wind energy was over 4% in 2015 and more than 5% in 2016.
