The Mangrove Foundation 2.0, hosted by the Fondation de Luxembourg, has announced plans to attract further funding in order to improve the lives of 500,000 people in the next five years.

In addition to donations from its partners, the Mangrove Foundation 2.0 plans to attract external contributors in the coming years so as to sustainably and positively affect the lives of thousands in targeted areas.

Recognising that climate change and overpopulation are the main challenges that threaten us globally, that every action counts and that businesses must play a role, Mangrove Capital Partners decided in 2009 to form The Mangrove Foundation. Since then, this foundation has donated nearly €300,000 to seven projects around the world while attracting co-financing of €740,000, mainly from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, thus multiplying its impact by three.

Mangrove Capital Partners has decided to give a new dimension to their actions with The Mangrove Foundation 2.0 with the experienced Hugo Mahieu serving as CEO. The goal is to manage projects with maximum and measurable impact on local populations. Not only will project selection and management techniques be applied, but sustainability will be a particular focus.

All projects will have to meet well-defined criteria, such as transparency and measurability, sustainability and replicability, control and acceleration of donations, as well as address the causes supported by Mangrove Capital Partners: the environment and the empowerment of women.

The Foundation has so far changed the lives of about 15,000 people, 2/3 of whom are women, through training, job creation, microfinance and has had a positive indirect impact on a local population of 80,000, always in close partnership with local NGOs. It has also helped plant thousands of trees, combating desertification and rehabilitating mangroves.
