On 11 September 2018, more than 30 leaders signed the IMS ("Inspiring More Sustainability") manifesto to stop single-use plastics at the annual Luxembourg CEO Sustainability Club dinner.

On this occasion, IMS called on the leaders of its network to sign an ambitious manifesto, in partnership with the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure. In a few days, more than 30 CEOs have already engaged in this fight to stop the purchase or distribution of single-use plastics by companies by the end of 2020.

Concretely, single-use plastic products include cups, straws and plastic bags that are designed to serve only once. Companies are big consumers of this type of plastic and, by giving it up, have real power in their hands. This goal is achievable within two years.

Indeed, sustainable alternatives exist today and companies will not be alone in this ambition. For instance, IMS has set up a support programme dedicated to this subject, from the analysis of the plastic imprint to the implementation of concrete solutions. The next meeting will take place on 17 October 2018 with the launch of the pilot working group, which will deal with auditing plastic waste in companies, analysing alternatives and contributing to a special guide.
