At Tuesday evening's screening of The Absent One (DK), the screening room at Ciné Utopia in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg was almost standing room only, such was the attraction and draw of director Mikkel Norgaard reagrding this, his successor to The Keeper of Lost Causes which was screened at the inaugural Nordic Film Festival in Luxembourg last year.

The film saw the reopening of a case from 20 years ago, the murder of a brother and sister, the children of a retired police officer who took his own life in an attempt to draw attention to his cause. Q Department took the cold case and started unearthing a series of revelations which pointed in the same direction. But can they locate Kimmy who seems to be the missing link? Quite dark and violent at times, the film was a classic Danish crime drama which had the audience glued to their seats in anticipation throughout.

This evening sees the turn of Sweden, with the screening of A Pigeon sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence by acclaimed Director Roy Andersson.
