The International Animation Film Market (MIFA), which took place from 12 to 15 June 2018 as part of the International Animated Film Festival (11-16 June 2018) in Annecy, France, is the annual global gathering for all professionals and enthusiasts of animated images in all its forms with more than 10,000 people accredited from 87 countries.

The Luxembourg Film Fund was represented for the 18th time with a promotional stand hosting 16 Luxembourg animation companies (production, studios, service providers). Its director, Guy Daleiden, was present to meet animation professionals, representatives of the FMAIV (Luxembourg Federation of the professions of animation and the virtual image) as well as 29 students and 3 teachers of the BTS Animation Drawing course of the Lycée des Arts et Métiers of Luxembourg.

During the traditional "speed dating" meetings, the students of the Lycée des Arts et Métiers had the opportunity to present animation professionals to present their talents for a possible internship or recruitment.

The Luxembourg Film Fund also organised co-production meetings with its partners from the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC, Québec, Canada), Wallonie Bruxelles Images (Belgium) and the Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales (INCAA, Argentina).

A total of five Luxembourgish co-productions were included in the official selection for screening during the festival. These included the feature films Funan by Denis Do (Bac Cinema) and The Breadwinner by Nora Twomey (Melusine Productions) which were in the official competition.

The Les Hirondelles de Kaboul (The Kabul Swallows) feature film by Peter Ramsey (Melusine Productions) was also selected from eight international projects to participate in the Work in Progress (WIP feature).

Alexandre Espigares's first feature film Croc-Blanc (Bidibul Productions) was also selected by the organisers for an outdoor screening today, Saturday 16 June 2018, at the end of the festival.

Finally, a film-concert dedicated to music and animated cinema will focus on the first feature film by Juan Antin's Doghouse Films Pachamama, in co-production with France and Canada.
