On Friday evening, the British & Irish Film Season (BIFS) had two screenings at the Cinémathèque in Luxembourg-ville.

First up was Access All Areas in which four youngsters escape to the Isle of Wight for a music festival. A very up-beat film with a magnificent sound-track, it featured sub-plots and addressed questions such as when is the right time to let your children go and make their own decisions. Writer/producer Oliver Veysey and director Bryn Higgins travelled over for the film's 3rd ever public screening and the first outside the UK, and revealed that it would be going on general release in the UK in late October, with other countries hopefully to follow.

During the post-screening Q&A session, the audience was enthralled by their stories of the challenges faced by shooting at such a music festival, with many scenes being possible with just one take. They also discussed the casting, soundtrack and other aspects of putting the film together and shooting it.

Second up on Friday evening was the Jim Sheridan-directed The Secret Scripture in which Vanessa Redgrave and Rooney Mara both play Rose, who has been living in a secure asylum for the past 40 years and who looks back over her life with the help of notes written in a bible.

Next up on Saturday are Handsome Devil and Kingsman 2: Golden Circle.
