The Film Fund Luxembourg and the Canada Media Fund today announced the opening of the application process for the Luxembourg-Canada Incentive for the Co-Development and Co-Production of Film Projects.

The incentive, revealed last February at the Luxembourg City Film Festival, has now launched an open call for film production projects.

To be eligible, projects must come from producers who meet the criteria of each organisation. Projects supported at the development stage will be drama or animation series, animated feature films, as well as digital media projects. The Incentive will also fund digital media projects (virtual and augmented reality, transmedia projects and enabling technologies, among others) at the production stage.

The combined annual budget of the Incentive will be approximately €600,000 ($900,000 Canadian dollars), with each party contributing half, for a total investment of €1,200,000 (CA $1,800,000) for the duration of the two-year incentive.

The combined maximum total contribution will be approximately €65,000 (CA $100,000) for each of the TV or digital projects funded under development and +€320,000 (CA $500,000) for each of the digital media projects funded in production. The contribution allocated by each country to each project will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Projects will be evaluated and selected following a selection process by a committee composed of representatives from the FFL and the CMF, as well as an independent expert from a third country chosen by the parties, according to various criteria, including the cultural value of the project and the target audience, the team roadmap and the viability of the project

All applications must comply with the Guiding Principles of the Incentive, which are posted on the FFL and CMF websites. The application period will end on 27 September 2018. Decisions will be announced in November 2018.
