Guy Daleiden, Director of the National Support Fund for Audiovisual Production, and Jean-Louis Scheffen, Chairman of the Fund's Selection Committee, have released their figures for 2016.

A total of 62 projects received selective financial assistance totaling €36,118,994. 32 projects benefited from writing and / or development support (i.e. €1,340,400) and 30 projects (including a transmedia project and a virtual reality project) received production aid (i.e. €34,778,594).

The Fund also granted promotional aid of €152,361 and various subsidies to the sector amounting to €138,224. 5 grants were awarded to authors for an amount of €47,500.

As part of its promotional mission, the Film Fund assumed a presence in various international markets and fora and participated in economic prospecting missions. In order to support the dissemination of our audiovisual heritage abroad, the Luxembourg embassies have organised, with the cooperation of the Film Fund, numerous screenings of films made in Luxembourg.

The 7th Luxemburg Film Prize "Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis" was won by the film "Eng nei Zäit" by Christophe Wagner (Samsa Film) as best Luxembourg film.

In the framework of the partnership with RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg, the third season of the documentary series "routwäissgro", produced by 13 independent Luxembourg directors and producers, grouped under the name "Kollektiv 13", will be broadcast from 15 October on the Luxembourg television channel. The second season of "Tirlitivi - Planet Kids" will also be available soon.

The launch of the platform VOD.lu with the Filmakademie and UniversCiné has kept all its promises in 2016 and plans in the coming months a subscription offer similar to that of Netflix.
