Directed by Trish Sie (Step Up All In) and starring Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air; Pitch Perfect; The Accountant; Into the Woods; Life After Beth; The Twilight Saga), Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect; Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb; What to Expect When You're Expecting), Brittany Snow (Hairspray; Pitch Perfect; John Tucker Must Die), Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit; The Homesman; Pitch Perfect; Ender's Game).

Comedy, music; 93 mins, 6+

The third in the series. Like many sequels Pitch Perfect 3 fails to live up to the spark and novelty of the first. Yes, the singing is excellent, and there are solid performances by most of the lead actors, but the storyline is wafer thin and there is almost no character development.

After winning the world championship, all the Bellas are now out of college and in jobs, although nobody seems to be enjoying theirs: Becca (Anna Kendrick) just quit and Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) doesn't seem to want to work. With their professional lives unfulfilled, they attend what they understand to be a reunion. When this fails, they grasp at the opportunity to entertain the troops and embark on a short 4-dates overseas tour, starting off in France. There they come up against other musicians and a couple of the girls have what are called "daddy issues".

Yes, it is entertaining, but there are many better films out there at the moment. Mind you, the 93 minutes flew by.
