The fourth in the "Ocean's..." franchise, "Ocean's 8" features an all-female crew led by Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock), sister of Danny Ocean, the central character of Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen. Here, Debbie is released from prison after being incarcerated for five years. Old habits die hard and she immediately sets about conning her way to get a hotel room and "purchase" cosmetics, etc., from an upmarket department store, with such apparent ease but blatant dishonesty that the audience is both approving and disapproving in the same breath.

She makes contact with Lou (Cate Blanchett) and soon enlists the help of six others, including Rose Weil (Helena Bonham Carter) - a designer - and Nine Ball (Rihanna). Together they meticiously plan the hesit of a $150 million necklace worn by Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway) at the New York Met Gala.

While the build-up may be significant, the characters are presented one by one, all with their own personalities but also all with their own special set of skills. Together, they hope to pull off an amazing heist. When it does happen, the action is as slick as the camerawork and choreography. In one of the few male roles in this film, James Corden plays John Frazier, an insurance investigator who tries to solve the crime...

Ocean's 8 loses none of the tempo of the previous Ocean's Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen, and although Sandra Bullock's character is the lead protagonist, with Cate Blanchett's not too far behind, neither are those of the others in the "female band of eight".

The film is set in the world of high society and glamour. Well worth a see...
