Directed by Juan Antin (Mercano the Martian)

Animated children's adventure;

The film follows a young boy who lives in a remote village in the Andes mountains in South America and dreams of becoming a shaman.

One day he participates in a sacrificial ceremony but is loathe to part with his preferred feather; he looks on as an elderly woman has a golden icon - a statuette - which is stolen from her by a band of maurauding Incas. The woman collapses into a coma and, bravely, he sets out to recover the stolen icon. Along the way he experiences a series of adventures which see him face various challenges.

Along his travels he is helped by a friend with a pet young llama - initially he wants to do this himself - and is accompanied by an armadillo and helped by a condor - all native to the Andes.

One of the most iconic aspects of the film is its music which is performed on a number of Peruvian musical instruments, including pan pipes. This helps transport the imagination of the audience to the Andes in South America and feel part of the whole adventure.

Pachamama goes on general release (distributed by Tarantula Distribution) in Luxembourg on 5 December.
