The Pure Irish Drops tour will be making a return to Luxembourg on 9 October 2015 with a performance from three traditional Irish musicians at the Parish Hall in Gasperich.
The line-up will bring the talents of three young female musicians to offer a fresh interpretation of traditional Irish music.
Alishe McMahon, a fiddle and harp player, has been surrounded by traditional Irish songs from an early age and began to learn the fiddle at the tender age of nine. Following a four-year attendance at the University of Limerick to gain her BA in Irish Music and Dance, Alisha has performed in a diverse range of countries such as Austria, Norway, the US, France and Dubai.
Méabh Ní Bheaglaoich's aptitude for singing and playing the accordion was hugely influenced by her music-loving family, particularly her father, aunts and uncles. When not singing about love, emigration and loss in both English and Irish, Méabh offers music classes and has taught at the Tocane Irish music festival in France and the American International College in Dingle. Méabh has also performed in concert with Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin at Féile na Bealtaine and recorded 7 songs for a Children's Christmas album.
Clíodhna Ní Bheaglaoich, viola- and fiddle-playing and séan nós-dancing cousin of Méabh, has inherited her musical flair from her father, famous accordionist Brendán Begley. Heavily influenced musically by the likes of Denis Murphy, Paddy Cronin and Connie O'Connell and dancers the Devaney, Roisín Ní Mhainín, and Nic Gareiss, Clíodhna has become a talented musician and dancer in her own right, having studied séan-nós dancing from the tender age of 8.
The Pure Irish Drops tour has been running for 25 years, offering its audiences a different theme and line-up annually. The Luxembourg concert will be held in Parish Hall in Gasperich, with doors opening at 19:30 and the concert beginning at 20:00. Tickets cost €15, with a reduced rate for children and students of €5.
