On Sunday evening, Luxembourg completed arguably their finest week in football history when escaping Toulouse with a 0-0 draw against France in their FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Just four days after defeating Belarus 1-0 at the Stade Josy Barthel in Luxembourg city, the Red Lions did the Grand Duchy proud despite having limited opportunities. They defended bravely and even late on, in the 79th minute, substitute Gerson Rodrigues outpaced France's Laurent Koscielny only for his shot to hit the post.

Didier Deschamps was frustrated with his team which has the vast majority of possession. Antoine Griezmann hit the crossbar from a free kick in the 50th minutes and Paul Pogba did likewise with a header on 53 minutes. Luxembourg's goalkeeper, Jonathan Joubert, did very well to save a header from Djibril Sidibe in the 63rd minute.

Luxembourg now have 5 points, equal with Belarus at the foot of the group table.
