On Tuesday 9 April 2024, 6 Monks (6M) announced its new status as the first authorised independent Luxembourgish alternative investment fund manager (AIFM) to offer services for third-party funds in relation to private equity, Web3 and crypto-assets through regulated investment vehicles benefiting from the European passport.

6M stated in a press release that it was committed to playing a "pioneering" role in the development of this new asset class by "bridging the gap between traditional financial actors and native players of the emerging Web3 ecosystem".

6M added that its management team had established strategic partnerships and implemented a "stringent" governance and internal control framework to safeguard AIFs and their investors.

Julien Wolff, Head of Risk Management of 6M, commented: "We are deeply convinced of the potential of crypto-assets as a new asset class, and 6M is not the sole actor to follow this route. Today, Luxembourg is the preferred place to launch crypto funds through regulated investment vehicles, given that they will find all the key players they require (AIFM, custodian, VASP, brokers, etc.) and a unique quality of service."

According to 6M, it is the "growing attractiveness" of this asset class and regulatory shifts within the sector in Europe which have allowed the firm to meet demand from fund promotors.

6M's services dedicated to investment funds active in Web3 projects and crypto-assets range from portfolio management to fund administration and regulatory compliance.

The AIFM confirmed that its advisor and partner, Dair Capital, will be the first third party asset manager to launch alternative funds investing directly in crypto-assets with an authorised AIFM in Luxembourg.

6M will celebrate this milestone with its partners and clients during an event on Tuesday 21 May 2024 at Mudam Café.
