This year, for the first time, an athlete from Luxembourg has qualified for the International Esports Federation (IESF) World Championship Finals, which are taking place in Eilat, Israel, from 16 to 19 November 2021.

Daniel “Diffside45” Araujo, who is part of the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) and the IESF national squad (i.e. the Luxembourg Esports Federation - LESF), was selected to represent Luxembourg in the regional qualifiers. After victories against Portugal and Sweden among others, Daniel successfully qualified for the offline final event of the World Championship. More than 80 nations took part in the regional qualifiers.

On Tuesday, Daniel kicked off his IESF World Championship journey with a victory against Guatemala. Also on the agenda are games against Colombia, Thailand, Honduras and Namibia.

The LESF is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation founded in June 2020 with the aim to promote esports as well as to federate esports stakeholders and represent their collective interests in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
