Minister Lydia Mutsch;

On Friday, Luxembourg's Cabinet agreed to create a Luxembourg agency for medicines and health products.

This agency, under the authority of the Ministry of Health, will consolidate the skills of drugs and medical devices within the same entity, in the interest of public health. At the same time, the ALMPS will help diversify the country's economy by leveraging investments already made in the biotechnology sector.

The Ministry of the Economy will therefore be associated with the consultations aimed at defining the priority actions to be put in place and the business plan of the future agency, so as to facilitate the effective implementation of a transparent regulatory framework capable of reassuring companies wanting to invest in health research and innovation in Luxembourg.

The agency will become operational after a transition period of approximately 2 to 3 years, necessary to prepare the legal framework, define the attributions and modes of operation and recruit the staff.
