Jean-Paul Olinger, UEL;

During the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Union des Enterprises Luxembourgeoises (UEL) on Wednesday 30 May 2018, Jean-Jacques Rommes asked to be relieved of his current duties as Managing Director and Chairman of the Executive Committee with effect from 15 July 2018.

This expected departure is in line with the process of transition that the UEL began a year ago after the departure of the Secretary General, Mr. Henckes, to the CLC and his replacement in early 2018 by Jean-Paul Olinger.

The Council expressed its great gratitude to Jean-Jacques Rommes for the commitment he has shown during fifteen years in the Council and since 2013 at the head of the Executive Committee of the UEL.

On the proposal of President Michel Wurth, the Council asked that Jean-Jacques Rommes remain at the service of the UEL and continues, on behalf of the employers, his mandates with the CES of which he is currently the vice-president. To ensure the success of this mission and to facilitate the transition, the Council requested him to continue to participate actively in the work of the Council and the Executive Committee.

The Board of Directors appointed Jean-Paul Olinger as Director of UEL with immediate effect. In addition, the Board charged him to lead the Executive Committee to replace Jean-Jacques Rommes from 15 July with the title of "Chairman of the Executive Committee".

As part of his new responsibilities, Jean-Paul Olinger is also named "Director of the INDR". In addition, the Council asked him to take over the presidency of the Mutualité des employeurs. Mr. Olinger thus becomes the incumbent of the functions undertaken by Mr. Henckes.

The Board thanked Nicolas Henckes for the services rendered to the UEL in these positions and asked him to continue as Vice-President of the CNS until October, when the governance of the latter will be reviewed. Nicolas Henckes remains a member of the UEL Executive Committee as director of the clc.

Michel Wurth welcomed this reorganisation of the executive of the UEL: "I am very grateful to Messrs. Rommes and Henckes who have greatly contributed to strengthening and advancing the role of the UEL as an employers' organisation, bringing together all sectors of the Luxembourg economy. I am happy to see that with Mr. Olinger the executive of the UEL is moving towards the new generation which characterizes more and more our economic fabric."

Jean-Paul Olinger thanked the Board for the confidence it has shown in this way: "You charge me with heavy responsibilities, but I am sure to master them with the support of my colleagues in your respective organisations. The UEL belongs to its members and together we serve the companies, because without them nothing goes."
